April Showers…

Our monthly Thursday meeting/club ride in Crescent City got post-poned due to the rain and wind coming in. We will reschedule the ride for a drier time.

We are currently working on contacting the BLM to see about getting a trail maintenance day in at Blue Ridge Trails between Coos Bay and Bandon.

On a side note: currently, Ed Kessler and Ptarmigan Ptrails is helping as a subcontractor to lay out 8-10 miles of mountain bike specific trails near Whiskey Run and Beaver Hill Road just south of the existing Winchester Trails in Bandon. The club helped support this system and are planning to help maintain and possibly hand-finish some of the trail this summer. Stay posted on South Coast Bicycles’ Facebook page to find out about upcoming volunteer opportunities.

Ready for Trail Building!

Members, Erin and Eddie Kessler, recently returned from Bend, OR and the Professional Trail Builders’ Annual Conference. The stoke is high for trail building in Oregon, and WRCMBA recently acquired our cache of hand tools so we can start our own, much-needed, trail maintenance and building on the Wild Rivers Coast. Look forward to trail volunteer training days and trail work days as the weather starts to dry out. Keep posted on our Facebook Page and Calendar.

If you’re a member (if you’re not, then what are you waiting for?) then head out to your local trail spots and do a little recon for us. Let us know what the trails need and how the club can help! Our Northern Region is looking to put a Trail Volunteer Training and Work Day on the schedule for April at Blue Ridge Trails near Bandon/Coos Bay (Time and Location still TBD). If you have any trails that you think could use a little help and maintenance, let us know! Email Us if you have any ideas or questions about upcoming volunteer days. Get ready to Dig!

Monthly Meeting Update

There may be snow and rain out there, but the board and members of The Wild Rivers Coast Mountain Bicycling Association have been very busy finishing up grants and getting amped about the new spring and summer plans!

We had our monthly Board Meeting Thursday, March 2nd at The Chowder House in Gold Beach. We discussed upcoming grant applications for 2017, finishing up our requirements for the Tool Trailer Grant, and other important info. If you’d like to join our meetings please follow us on Facebook or check our calendar here on the webpage for locations and times. We encourage all those wanting to attend to become a member of WRCMBA so you voice can be heard and you can join in the fun we have planned for this summer. The Board meets the First Thursday of each month and locations change.

The North Region (Port Orford to North Bend) met on Tuesday at Foley’s Irish Pub in Old Town Bandon. We had 7 mountain bike lovers show up to voice their support and learn about what the club is doing for the Bay region and northern Curry County. We are planning on having a volunteer training day in the spring, so keep updated with our calendar! Members in the northern region are encouraged to join us for some food, beer, and bikes!
