NICA Team Forming, Whiskey Chaser, and more.

We have a few exciting things happening here on the coast!
Firstly, WRCMBA, local riders, and parents are forming a South Coast Composite Team for the NICA (National Interscholastic Cycling Association) Oregon League. We are excited to announce registration for full-time students in 6-12th grade (2019 school year) will open April 1st. We are planning a parent/student Q&A- informational meeting for the beginning of April. Stay posted on our website as the date & venue are announced.
This Summer/Fall Sport will have practices starting after July 1, held in Coos Bay. Races are held on weekends September through November. Scholarships and transportation options are available. Visit our NICA info page here.

Secondly, WRCMBA is planning for a Whiskey Chaser 6-Hour Lap Chase Fundraiser, May 11th. Details are still forming and we hope to finalize everything with the county and volunteers next week. Details about the ride are here.
Expect some volunteer dates coming up to prepare the trails for this epic event! Volunteers are always needed, so if you plan on coming but not racing, we need your help! Email us for more details and to sign up to help!

We are also in the works for planning our 2nd Annual Joe Martin Memorial Ride. Details will emerge shortly, but our shuttled ride is held in Gold Beach, up Hunter Creek, with a big pot-luck and raffle to follow at Buffington Park.

On a trail note, Coos County is looking to award the grant for Phase 2 for Whiskey Run Trails in the coming weeks. We hope the contract goes to a local builder and we expect work to start this summer for an additional $400K in mountain bike specific trails! Exciting stuff happening on the coast!

The North Region Trail Riders (Coos County) have been meeting every month on a Monday evening to discuss volunteer efforts, maintenance days, events, rides, grant opportunities and more! The next meeting date/location will be posted shortly so look for that if you are in the Bandon to North Bend Region.

Be sure to stay up to date on our Facebook Page, Google Calendar, or join us at a meeting!
