December 14th, 2019

  • 10am – Club ride on the Pine Grove Trail w/ shuttle
  • 4pm – Christmas Party at Agness RV Park Event Center.

Party Info: following our club ride and shuttles we will be at the Agness RV Park event center ready to party at about 4pm. EVERYONE WELCOME! Potluck style meal (please bring some to share), BYOB, bring some games, and come have a good time in the event center and around the campfire. If you want to party with us but don’t want to drive home from Agness at night, then stay the night! **You can rent a cabin (really nice) at the Agness RV Park, a room at Cougar lane, or reserve a Van/RV/Camp spot. (links below)

Ride Info: Meet at Agness RV Park at 10am to load the shuttle rigs to Pine Grove. It takes about 30 minutes to get to the top of the Pine Grove Trail. It’s a little over 6 mile downhill trail with 3,134 feet of descending. The ride ends at the confluence of Illinois and Rogue Rivers. We will plan on running two shuttles for those that are back in time.

Other Options: There are other rides in the area: Illinois River Trail at Oak Flats and the Lower Rogue River Trail. Feel free to explore these on your own if you want more diversity in the weekend.

Please RSVP if you plan on riding so we can accommodate everyone for the shuttle.

We all love a fun club ride! Come join us!

South Region

Pine Grove Club Ride:

This is a 6(ish) mile downhill ride that ends in Agness. It’s fairly technical with plenty of roots and rocks and a couple steep shoots that some may choose to walk. We will see some ridge-top meadows and views of the Rogue River as we descend to the lower trailhead at the Illinois River Bridge in Agness.

We will meet at the Lobster Creek Bridge pullout (South Bank of the river) at 9:00am and head up from there. We’ll find a good spot to park close to Agness and get shuttled to the upper trailhead.

North Region

Cape Mountain Club Ride:

One of Oregon’s most scenic coastal trail systems, the roughly 10 mile Cape Mountain loop offers beautiful riding through older growth forests and ocean views from grassy meadows. The descents are fast and flowy with some roots and rocks to keep you on your toes.  The main climb comes in the second half of the ride. At over 4 miles long and steep at times, most riders will find this climb physically demanding and may choose to walk some sections. Come prepared with water, fuel, and your best pair of legs.

We will leave from Front Street Community Bike Works in Coos Bay (791 N Front St) at 9:00am and should arrive at the Dry Lake trailhead just north of Florence around 10:15

We’ll be home early enough to attend the Filmed by Bike Festival and NICA fundraiser at the Egyptian Theatre in Coos Bay
