Party Details.

Stick around, following our club ride and shuttles we will be at the Agness RV Park Event Center ready to party at about 4pm. EVERYONE WELCOME, even if you didn’t ride, (ie. Bring the family)!

Potluck style meal (please bring some to share), BYOB, bring some games, and come have a good time in the event center and around the campfire.Don’t want to drive home?If you want to party with us but don’t want to drive home from Agness at night, then stay the night! **You can rent a cabin at the Agness RV Park, a room at Cougar Lane Lodge, or reserve a Van/RV/Camp spot.

Ride Info.

Meet at Cougar Lane Lodge at 10am to load the shuttle rigs to Pine Grove Trailhead. It takes about 30 minutes to get to the top of the Pine Grove Trailhead from Cougar Lane. It’s a little over 6 mile downhill trail with over 3,100 feet of descending. There are fun fast open meadows and oaks, technical rocky sections, steep contour descents through coast forests, and narrow wooded mountainsides. It is an intermediate ride.
All riders must be self-sufficient with the proper tools for tire/tube repairs, chain fixes, general mechanicals, and basic 1st aid if needed.
The ride ends at the confluence of the Illinois and Rogue Rivers at Jerry’s Flat Road with a short pedal on pavement back to Cougar Lane Lodge.
We will plan on running two shuttles for those that are back in time.
If you have a large group, we suggest shuttling yourselves as space is limited on the bus.

The Volstead Rises & A Video!

Ptarmigan Ptrails has been busy this fall busting in some new trails at Whiskey Run. Check out TrailForks for updated maps (be sure to “UPDATE OREGON” in the downloaded regions to get the newest maps). There is a couple new blue and black trails on both the classic side and east side. The Volstead area is accessed from a bridge crossing at the bottom of Wing And A Prayer descent. If you venture that way, expect a fully committed riding day. Certain trails are open to ride (please avoid riding after heavy rainfall and watch out for crews working. Absolutely NO riding closed trails.)

Thanks to Hennick’s Home Center for the Picnic Table

Now when you venture out to Volstead Area you can bring your lunch and enjoy a sweet spot to eat, thanks to Hennick’s Home Center in Bandon. They generously donated a table for the trails and our lead volunteers Jerry Gross and Raleigh (the Ripper) Kraynik (@raleigh_tk) helped bring it in and build it up! Thanks guys for your hard work. Be sure to stop into Hennick’s and say “thanks” from the mountain bike club!

Since you read this far… enjoy a pretty sweet little video from You Tuber BKXC back when Eddie Kessler showed him the ropes this summer. It’s just a dang-good fun place to ride. (Spoiler alert, this isn’t Redbull Rampage)
